'Positive Futures' is a voluntary organisation which seeks to support children, young people and adults with a learning disability and their families and carers. It provides a growing range of specialist services across Northern Ireland, including the Lisburn area.
People with a learning disability are often among society's most vulnerable individuals and so we are delighted to enter into this partnership project, offering compassionate and caring assistance as we welcome several of the local 'Positive Futures' groups and activities into our premises.
On Monday afternoons there is 'after school indoor games', followed later in the evening by a computer group. On Thursday afternoons, a group of young people are developing their artistic skills through a film making project. Another key feature of the programme is the 'Buddy Groups' - groups of young people with a learning disability and their friends, who meet approximately monthly for fun and fellowship. So far two of these groups have met in Trinity.
Positive Futures seeks to challenge preconceptions about disability in creative ways and aims to involve children and young people with a learning disability in their own communities by enabling inclusion. Obviously volunteers are a vital part of all that is done. Even a commitment of an hour a week can make a significant difference to the lives of the young people and families supported.
If you would like to become involved with this work or simply would like more information you can contact Positive Futures at 60 - 62 Longstone Street, (028) 9260 6740, or simply please speak to Rev Clive Webster, David Twyble or any member of our T.C.I. committee.

The C.A.B. adviser continues to be present in Trinity each Wednesday afternoon from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. to give expert help and advice on a wide range of problems and difficulties - Social Security Benefits, Housing/Housing benefits, Consumer Problems, Employment difficulties, Financial problems etc.
This service is free and confidential, and is available to everyone in the community - not just Trinity Members! No appointment is necessary - simply call in. The adviser works from the small office beside our front doors (new building). If someone is with him when you call, please take a seat and wait in our foyer.

At a recent 'Pray Trinity' evening, we were reminded once again of the vast range of activities and events that take place from week to week in our church buildings. In addition to our own Trinity organisations and the activities described above, we also provide facilities for regular and occasional meetings of
- the local 'Torch Trust' group
- Lisburn Childminding Support Group
- Down & Lisburn Carers Forum for Learning Disability
- Homestart Lisburn

On a more recreational front, we are also pleased to host
New members, (Methodists included!), are always welcome in these groups.
- the 'Red River Line Dancing Club' on Monday evenings
- a ladies 'Keep Fit' group on Wednesday evenings
- 'Toutes Directions', a fun-filled 'French for Primary School Children' class on Saturday mornings.

Finally, our new facilities are becoming increasingly popular as a conference and training venue. So far we have welcomed courses and events run by Down & Lisburn Health and Social Services Trust, Lisburn Strategy Partnership, Lisburn Enterprise Organisation, The Girls' Brigade (Northern Ireland Region), The Salvation Army (Ireland Division), and Scripture Union, as well as our own Methodist Department for Youth and Children's work.

It is indeed thrilling as we gradually work towards our vision of making Trinity the 'hub of our community'. Do continue to pray for all the work. There is much still to be done.
We would love to receive your comments, ideas or suggestions. If you have a heart for social outreach and friendship evangelism, then why not get involved? You will be most welcome. Extra helpers and leaders are needed in most of our groups and activities, so please speak to Clive or David today if possible !
