Baby Zone - a guide for parents

Introduction

Baby Zone is located in the Conference room on the upper floor of the new building. Baby Zone is an integral part of Trinity Zone and is for children from 3 months old until 3 years old. Children are encouraged to move to Mini Zone upon reaching the age of 2 years and 6 months.

Please sign your child into Baby Zone each week. Children must be collected by a parent/guardian at the end of morning worship. A child will not be allowed to be collected by a sibling.

Nappy Changing

If a child should need changing during their time in Baby Zone, then the parent will be contacted to do this. For child protection reasons, leaders and helpers will not change nappies. A mat is available in the Baby Zone cupboard, or there are changing stations available in other areas of the church.

Snacks/Food

We have a policy that no food or snacks should be brought into Baby Zone, by you or your child, with the exception of a bottle/cup of milk. This is due to allergies which may exist. It is a parent's responsibility to inform the leaders of any allergies as the leaders may provide a healthy snack for the children. Under no circumstances are nuts of any form to be in the Baby Zone room even in a child's bag.

Accidents/Incidents

Parents will be informed immediately of all head injuries, no matter how small. Other injuries/incidents will be reported to a parent on collection of their child, unless it is deemed necessary to inform the parent sooner than this. Accidents should be recorded by the Baby Zone leader in the church accident book.

Child Protection

All volunteers in Baby Zone will be POCVA checked [The Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (NI) Order 2003]. Baby Zone follows the Child Protection policy of Trinity Zone.

Fire

In the event of a fire, children in Baby Zone will be taken to the landing of the fire escape stairway. They will be kept there until collected. One Baby Zone leader will open the fire escape door and remain there to aid parents to collect their children. Parents should make their way out of the nearest fire exit and meet their children at the fire escape door then they should proceed to the assembly point.
