Trinity Evergreens is a club for retired and semi-retired folk who enjoy meeting together once a month for fun and fellowship.
We have a full programme for the year which has included guest speakers e.g. Robert Baird on 'Old Fashioned Remedies' and Aldor Travel on 'Christian Fellowship Holidays'; demonstrations e.g. Dean Roland Hutchinson on 'Flowering Baskets' and Deirdre Humphries on 'Fit for Life'; and games and quizzes e.g. Scattegories and Beetle Drive. A devotional thought, poem or reading is shared each meeting over a cup of tea and cake.
We have also enjoyed outings e.g. to the Ulster American
Folk Park and the Palace Stables, Armagh.
We are fortunate to have the Lisburn Island Arts Centre close at hand
and on occasions go along to a show or pantomime having enjoyed a
pre-show meal together in the Lighters restaurant of the centre.
Trinity Evergreens provides a setting where folk can enjoy all of the
above in a friendly atmosphere, good company and warm Christian
fellowship. If you would like to come along, then all are welcome, or
contact Angela Sofley (number shown on left) for more details.

Trinity Evergreens was established in 2003, the 3rd year of Rev. Clive Webster's ministry in Trinity. Since then we have shared in many happy and enoyable times together.
Rev. Webster has been very much a part of our Evergreens group. Joining us for most of our gatherings, he often led us in our devotions and took part and contributed to many of our various events throughout the years. I think he will be best remembered for our annual game of 'Scattergories', which he organised and led with great gusto, to the entertainment and enjoyment of all there. Also for his donning of a very large Santa oufit at our Christmas lunches and raising many laughs as he jokingly distributed the seasonal gifts to a 'very merry' gathering of Evergreens and Luncheon Clubbers.
On Wednesday 28th May 2008, Evergreens and Luncheon Club together shared in a farewell meal for our beloved Clive. It was an emotional day for those retired and elderly folk who have been so blessed and heartened by Clive's ministry over the years. However, we endeavoured to give him a memorable and hearty send off, and did so with some lighthearted lyrics (a poem and song) dedicated to himself.
Both Evergreens and Luncheon Clubbers had been very generous and a gift was presented to the Rev. Webster at the end of our time together.
Clive assured the group that he would be very glad to visit us in the future, and so in anticipation of that Trinity Evergreens said 'cheerio' but not goodbye.
Our annual outing took place this year on Thursday 1st May 2008.
Twenty five Trinity Evergreens and Luncheon Clubbers boarded their coach at 8.45am and set out for their first stop of Newtownards shopping mall. The weather was very kind to us and our driver, Robin, took us on a scenic route whilst giving us some interesting facts and stories about the countryside we were travelling through.
We arrived at the shopping mall around 10.00am and enjoyed a couple of hours browsing through the shops and enjoying a chat over a cup of coffee and some very large scones!
From there, Robin drove us, again taking the scenic route through Greyabbey, to the National Trust property, Mount Stewart House. There we took a guided tour of the house and some relaxed in the courtyard whilst others ventured into the beautiful walled gardens. We stayed in Mount Stewart House for our evening meal together which was served at 4.30pm in the Bay Restaurant.
On leaving Mount Stewart House, tired and well fed, Robin drove us further down the Ards Peninsula to Portaferry where we boarded the ferry to Strangford and arrived back at Trinity at 7.30pm.
The day was greatly enjoyed by all. The weather was fine, the venue was beautiful, the food was good, and the fellowship was great.
Some photos from the day can be found in the gallery here.
Another Church year begins and again a varied programme of Evergreen events has been put in place for 2007/2008.
We commenced our year's activities in September with a visit from 'The Singing Chef'.
Raymond Crooks is a chef in the Bank of Ireland who provides an entertaining evening of song, testimony and chat along with a 'fool-proof' pavlova recipe.
In October, our own Rev. Clive Webster took us on a journey through Europe as he shared with us a powerpoint presentation of his Sabbatical this past summer. It was most interesting to hear of the congregations he visited and the contacts he made as well as enjoying the scenery of the many French regions he passed through.
Having enjoyed and been blessed by these two meetings, we look forward with anticipation to the remainder of the year. Our oncoming events include our Christmas Meal and Pantomime at the Island Centre; a presentation by Des McKee on 'Colour Slides of Northern Ireland from the 60's, 70's and 80's; quizzes and our annual Trip in May.
We give thanks to God for his continued faithfulness and for the times of blessing and fellowship shared in Evergreens.
Evergreens is open to retired and semi-retired folk. If you are interested in joining with us for any of our events you will be made very welcome.

Trinity Evergreens have been meeting together since 2002. Each May we join with Trinity Luncheon Club for our yearly outing. This year we went on a tour of 'Saint Patrick's Country'.
At 9.00am on Thursday 25th May we set out for Downpatrick. In the St. Patrick Centre there we had coffee and scones and viewed a 180degree film presentation of a short history of St. Patrick in Ireland.

From there we, along with our guide from the Centre toured the countryside around Downpatrick, visiting the oldest church in Ireland, established by St. Patrick, at Saul. We also visited the Struell Wells holy well, and after a lunch at the centre went in and around Down Cathedral, St. Patrick's gravestone and the Downpatrick Museum - the weather was sunny and the scenery was beautiful.
Our tour completed, we went by coach to Ardglass and enjoyed a lovely meal at The Curran Restaurant. Needless to say, a great day was had by all and the fun and fellowship was, as always, very enjoyable!
